Copper bowls finished in kiln-fired vitreous enamel — functional sculpture, handmade in Australia, from $60. Each bowl starts as a sheet of copper that Natalia raises by hand, then builds colour on through repeated firings at around 800°C. The glass surface is what makes them glow — powdered enamel fused permanently to the metal.

No two bowls can come out of the kiln alike, so each one listed here is the only one of it that exists.

What is an enamelled bowl?

A metal bowl — here, hand-raised copper — coated with powdered glass that is fused to the surface in a kiln at around 800°C. The result is a hard, glossy, permanently coloured surface that ordinary paint cannot imitate.

Are the bowls food safe?

Treat them as decorative art objects rather than tableware. They are made as display pieces — for keys, jewellery, or simply as sculpture — not tested or sold as food-contact items.

How do I care for an enamelled bowl?

Dust with a soft cloth, or wipe with a damp one. The enamel surface is glass: it does not fade or tarnish, but it can chip if dropped onto a hard floor — handle it like ceramics.

Is each bowl unique?

Yes. The colour behaviour in the kiln cannot be exactly repeated, and each copper form is raised by hand, so every bowl is one of a kind.
