Ring Resizing in Australia - Cost, Turnaround & Mail-In Service
We resize rings two ways: a simple fixed-price adjustment for rings bought from us, and a full mail-in service (from $200, including insured return post) for rings bought anywhere else. They work differently, cost differently, and start in different places - so find yourself in the table below before going further.

What resizing costs - rings from other jewellers
The final price depends on three things: the metal, whether stones sit near the part of the band being cut, and how far the size moves. Sizing up costs more than sizing down, because metal has to be added and colour-matched to the original.
- From $200 for a plain band in silver or gold - any carat - moving one to two sizes. Insured registered return post is included.
- Quoted individually where stones sit close to the band, or where the change is more than two sizes.
- No charge to ask. Photo assessment and quote are free, and you're under no obligation once you have the number.
Why it costs what it does. The work is done at our own bench by the jeweller, not sent out to a trade workshop. We assess the ring from photos before anything is cut, we quote before you commit, and insured registered return post is included in the price. Photo assessment and quote are free either way.

If we don't think a ring should be resized, we'll say so and explain why. It's a better outcome than a ring that no longer sits the way it was designed to.
How the mail-in service works
- Send photos and sizes. A clear photo of the ring, the inside of the band if there's a hallmark, plus your current and target size.
- We quote. A firm price and an honest view on whether the ring should be resized at all.
- Post it to us. Send it by registered post with insurance - we return it the same way.
- We resize and return it. Typically 2-4 weeks at the bench, then back to you insured and tracked.
Why 2-4 weeks? There is one bench here, and resizing is fitted around commissioned work rather than ahead of it. We would rather quote honestly than promise a week and miss it. If you need it sooner, say so when you enquire - we can sometimes bring a job forward, and we'll tell you straight away if we can't.

How much does it cost to resize a ring?

Yes. We take in rings from any jeweller. Send photos and your sizes and we'll quote before you post anything.
I bought my ring from NJewellery - do I need a quote?
No. If it came from us and needs a single Australian size up, add the resizing add-on to your cart alongside the ring and leave your size in the checkout note. Fixed price, no photos, no posting - we resize it before it ships.
Can any ring be resized?
No. We don't work with platinum, and full eternity rings, tension settings and titanium or tungsten bands can't be resized at all. Rings with a pattern running the whole way round often can't be either, without losing the design. Plain silver and gold bands have the most room to move.
Do you resize platinum rings?
No. We work in silver and gold, so platinum is one we pass on. A jeweller who works in platinum regularly will do a better job of it than we would.
How long does ring resizing take?
For rings sent to us, typically 2-4 weeks at the bench once your ring arrives, plus post each way. There is one bench here and resizing is fitted around commissioned work, which is why we quote a range rather than a single date. If you need it sooner, say so when you enquire - we can sometimes bring a job forward. For rings bought from us, the resizing happens before the ring ships, so there's no separate wait.
Is it cheaper to size a ring up or down?
Down. Sizing down removes metal and rejoins the band. Sizing up means adding metal that has to match the original in colour and carat, which takes more time and more material.
Do you resize rings from anywhere in Australia?
Yes - the service is mail-in and we work with customers Australia-wide. You don't need to be near the workshop.
Will resizing damage my ring?
Done properly, no. That's why we assess from photos first and decline the jobs that shouldn't be attempted. If there's a risk to the design or the stones, we'll tell you before you send it.
