Butterfly weightless at the hollow of your throat.
Slip this pendant on and feel it settle — a small, bright shape of enamelled silver resting just where a necklace should. Aqua and ocean-blue enamel shifts between shades as the light moves with you; one moment shallow water, the next deeper sea. Beautiful layered with a longer chain and a plainer piece above it, or worn alone against a scooped neckline where it becomes the only thing anyone notices. Expect compliments — and expect to be asked if it's antique, because champlevé work rarely looks this alive.
Butterflies are old carriers of meaning: transformation, emergence, a reminder that change can be beautiful. The aqua and blue palette adds its own quiet note — blue for calm and clarity of thought, aqua for creativity and flow. Worn close to the throat, this is a piece that sits right where you speak from.
Handmade on the Central Coast of Australia by artist-jeweller Natalia using the traditional champlevé technique. Each wing is engraved by hand into 999 fine silver before any enamel is laid — and the engraved detail stays visible beneath the colour, shifting in the light. The recesses are then filled with vitreous glass enamel and fired more than ten times to build the depth and brilliance of the finished surface. Every kiln firing is unforgiving, so no two pendants come out of the fire quite the same. Finished with a 925 sterling silver bail, ready for any fine chain.
Ten-plus firings, carefully timed, and the colour still surprises me every time the kiln cools. That's part of why I love this technique. — Natalia
