Blue, Grey & Yellow Swirl Cloisonne Pendant small

A little weather-map in silver.

Slip this small pendant on and feel how quietly it lands — 20 mm across, just enough to be noticed without asking for attention. The swirling enamel shifts between soft blue, warm yellow, and a grounding grey, like a piece of summer sky with a cloud passing through. Fine silver wires trace the swirls in thin, deliberate lines, catching light along the edges as you move. It sits beautifully on a delicate chain at the collarbone, or higher on a shorter chain for a close-to-the-throat look. Someone will ask about it at coffee, at dinner, on the train — small pieces that are this well-made always end up starting conversations.

Blue, grey, and yellow isn't a palette you see often in jewellery, and that's part of the quiet pleasure of this pendant. Blue brings calm and clarity — the colour long associated with honest thinking. Yellow adds warmth, optimism, the lift that makes a morning feel possible. Grey grounds the pair, a steady in-between tone that lets both colours breathe. The overall feeling is balanced — bright enough to notice, quiet enough to wear every day.

Handmade on the Central Coast of Australia by artist-jeweller Natalia using the traditional cloisonné technique — one of the oldest and most painstaking forms of enamelling. Thin silver wires are shaped and soldered onto a 999 fine silver base to form each tiny cell of the design; every cell is then filled by hand with vitreous glass enamel and fired in the kiln. The piece is re-enamelled and re-fired multiple times to build the depth and gloss of the finished surface — a slow, unforgiving process, and every firing is a small gamble on the colour. Finished with a 925 sterling silver bail so it pairs easily with any fine chain.

Cloisonné is a patient craft — each little silver line is bent by hand before a drop of enamel goes in. Small pieces like this one are some of my favourites to make. — Natalia
