A butterfly wing in stained glass, lit by a moonstone-flash labradorite.
A rare plique-à-jour pendant: pink and purple vitreous enamel set in open silver cells with no metal backing, so light passes straight through the colour like a miniature stained-glass window. A labradorite sits alongside, catching blue and green flashes as you turn it in the light. At 33mm including the bail, it's small enough to wear every day and precious enough to feel like a tiny artwork.
Labradorite is the mystic's stone — famous for its labradorescence, the way hidden blues, greens and golds suddenly flash across its surface. It's long been associated with intuition, transformation, and protection for anyone doing the work of change. Paired with the translucent butterfly wing, it makes a piece about lightness, metamorphosis, and the magic of being caught mid-shift.
Handmade by Natalia on the Central Coast of Australia using the plique-à-jour technique — the hardest of the enamel techniques. Fine silver wires are soldered into the wing-cell pattern, then the enamel is fired in the open cells without any metal backing, so each pane of colour has to suspend itself in the setting as it cools. Each firing risks collapse; only perfect firings survive. The labradorite is bezel-set alongside in 999 fine silver, finished by hand. This is a one-of-a-kind last piece — the last of this exact combination of stone and wing pattern.
